Learning Strategist

Gifft Hill School is seeking an outstanding, compassionate, and dedicated full time learning strategist. Candidates should have more than three years of experience with a successful track record of collaboration, curriculum assessment and design across grades, teacher evaluation, and working with a wide range of learners. Knowledge of learning disabilities, psycho-educational tests, reports, and assistive technology, and of administering and interpreting assessments and test results, academic achievement, and diagnostic testing is essential. Applicants should show proven success as a leader in program development, full understanding of differentiated instructional strategies across the curriculum, strong understanding and practice of educational technology, outstanding interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, and be detail-oriented and resourceful. Successful candidates will possess a strong work ethic, high level of integrity, and strong networking skills to ensure access to resources in the broader community, and be tactful and discreet, technologically savvy, and high-energy and enthusiastic about working in an academic atmosphere.

Secondary Spanish Teacher

Gifft Hill School in beautiful St. John, USVI is looking for an outstanding full time secondary school Spanish teacher who can live our mission and vision of providing a dynamic, rigorous academic program that supports students with a range of learning styles and readiness levels in a climate that fosters a love of learning, mutual respect, and the importance of personal responsibility. Successful candidates will have experience teaching students in grades 6-12, and expertise in managing both small group, and whole class instruction, using sound instructional practices and positive, proactive classroom management strategies. He/she will demonstrate the capacity to teach in a bilingual manner, to collaborate effectively with specialists, and to maintain a high standard of personalized communication with parents. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching in Spanish immersion programs and/or experience using TPRS or other similar systems, which emphasize speaking and listening in the target language. With the island as our classroom, teachers who seek to build a school community rich in rigorous academics and daily experiences of discovery, and who can model adaptability and teamwork for their students will be a wonderful match for this position.
